What is 'Africa on Fire for Jesus' ?

In 2003, The Apostolic Ministries International (TAMI) in partnership with various ministers and churches, conducted the first International School of Discipleship on African soil in the Machuvie Village of Zanzibar. Sixty days of food, accommodation and training were provided, free of charge, to 150 students hailing from Uganda, Kenya, Zanzibar and Tanzania. As a result of this Bible School, trained men of God going back to their villages spearheaded vibrant ministries in Zanzibar, Uganda and Kenya. The following year a Bible School was conducted in Kenya with another 150 students enrolled. In 2005 the third African Bible School was conducted in Uganda where hundreds of people received water baptism and one HIV positive patient completely healed. Since 2005 Bible Schools have been held in Burundi, Rwanda, Congo, Ethiopia & Nigeria including a School of Discipleship conducted in Uvira Prison, Congo among 220 prisoners where 124 students obeyed the Word of God and received water baptism.

When students of these Bible Schools, ministered to and equipped with the Word of God, return to their countries and villages they are passionate, zealous and focused on preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and there is no limit to what the Holy Spirit will do through them…it is as if they have been completely consumed by the hope of the working of the Holy Spirit. There seems to be no end to the testimonies received of the lives set free, churches planted and doors opened as a result of these students’ walking in the new found confidence of the Word of God. Since 2004 it has been quite evident to TAMI that the most effective way of penetrating the nations of the world with the life available in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was educating local ministers and sending them forth in power—to set Africa On Fire For Jesus.

Growth of Churches

One of the salient features of the International School of Discipleship is the growth of the participating churches. The trainees are empowered and inspired to serve the Lord in a more effective and powerful way. Over 80% of the trained students have gone back to their mother church and strengthened the work of the Lord in their own churches. We have various testimonies from Regional Overseers of the excellent effect of the training in their respective churches.
